Extremely pleased, honored and humbled to have our work recognized with three awards in the 2019 AIGA Philadelphia Design Awards (PDA) design competition, including a Judge’s Choice Award (thanks to Isabel Urbina Peña) for the “Rebus Quotes and Other Typographic Explorations” Folio and Prints. The Rebus Quotes project became the basis of my sabbatical and was the project that launched Base Press and started me down this crazy letterpress road! Other projects receiving recognition were the Klein College 50 Viewbook for the Klein College of Media and Communication at Temple University and the Marketing Materials Design System for the Shildan Group. The PDA design competition recognizes the best design created in Philadelphia over the past two years. In addition to Peña, other judges for the 2019 PDA were Rafael Esquer and Shani Sandy. The PDA exhibition will be on display through June 21, 2019 at Huddle, 338 Brown Street in Philadelphia.
