AIGA Turns 100!

February, 2014

To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts, the professional association for design), BDA Principal and Associate Professor of Graphic Design Communication, Frank Baseman was honored and humbled to be one of 100 designers nationwide invited to participate in the AIGA Centennial, “Celebrating AIGA, 1914-2014” project. Each of the 100 designers had to select a year to design something about. Not sure why, but I kept thinking of 1972, and then all I could think about was Richard Nixon. As I conducted my research on the project, that (familiar) phrase, “You Won’t Have Dick Nixon to Kick Around Anymore” kept coming to mind; and then the piece sort of designed itself, with (naturally) an image of Richard Nixon getting kicked around.
